Skull base surgery workshop

SESSION 1

The first lecture commenced at 9.15am it was delivered by M. E. Chaoui (Fez, Morocco). He discussed the detailed surgical anatomy of the temporal and middle skull base. He concluded at 9.30am.

 

The second lecture commenced at 9.30am and lasted till 10.00am. It was delivered by M. El Azouzi (Rabat, Morocco). He discussed in details the surgical anatomy, indications, positioning and requirements for pterional approach. He also gave video illustrations of the procedure.

 

The third lecture started at 10.05am and ended at 10.14am. It was delivered by B. El Mostarchid (Rabat, Morocco). He described the detailed anatomy of the frontal and anterior skull base and the different frontal approaches (fronto-lateral, bifrontal, orbital, transbasal and orbitozygomatic approaches)

 

The fourth and last lecture in this session commenced at 10.15am and lasted till 10.30am. It was delivered by A. El Khamlichi (Rabat, Morocco). He described the details of the frontolateral approach including indications, procedure, benefits and limitations of the approach.

 

All the lectures were followed by question and answer sessions.

 

After a short coffee break the first session was followed by hands on cadaveric demonstrations by M. El Azouzi, B. El Mostarchid, and M. E. Chaoui. The session was concluded at 13.00pm.
